Pioneer Woman White Bread

The Pioneer Woman’s “The Bread”

Ingredients:

-1 cup Milk

-1/4 cup White Sugar

-1/4 cup Butter

-2 1/2 teaspoons Active Dry Yeast

-1/4 cup Warm Water

-3 cups All-Purpose Flour

-1 teaspoon Salt

-1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda

-1 Egg, Slightly Beaten

Directions:

1. In a small saucepan, heat the milk until it just starts to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar and butter until melted.

2. Pour the warm mixture into a large mixing bowl and let it cool for a few minutes until it is lukewarm. Meanwhile, dissolve the yeast in the warm water and set it aside.

3. Add in 2 cups of the flour, the yeast mixture, salt, baking soda, and egg. Mix on low speed with a dough hook attachment until everything is combined.

4. Gradually add in the remaining 1 cup of flour and mix until a soft dough forms.

5. Knead the dough for a few minutes on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic.

6. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and place it in a warm, draft-free location. Let it rise for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

7. Preheat your oven to 375°F.

8. Remove the dough and punch it down in the center to deflate. Divide the dough into 2 equal parts.

9. Shape the loaves into round balls and place them in greased 9x5 inch loaf pans.

10. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is a deep golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

11. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!

-4 cups All-Purpose Flour

Directions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.

2. Mix in the oil, salt, and eggs until the mixture is smooth.

3. Add in the flour, one cup at a time, while mixing until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.

4. Knead the dough for a few minutes on a floured surface until it is smooth and elastic.

5. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth, and place it in a warm, draft-free location. Let it rise for 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.

6. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

7. Punch down the dough and divide into two equal parts. Shape the dough into two loaves and place them into greased 9x5 inch loaf pans.

8. Let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.

9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the bread is a deep golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.

10. Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
