Hey y'all!
It's the season for some yummy snacks and I've got just the recipe for you. These popcorn balls are so delicious and easy to make. Plus, they make for a great treat to give out during Halloween or any fall gathering.
Popcorn Balls from the Pioneer Woman
The first recipe we have is straight from the Pioneer Woman. You know her, she's always cooking up something good. These popcorn balls are no exception.
To make these, you'll need:
- 1 cup of light corn syrup
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup of water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 bags of popped popcorn (16 cups)
- butter for greasing your hands
Now, let's get started!
- In a large pot, combine the corn syrup, sugar, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir constantly until the sugar has dissolved.
- Add the vinegar and vanilla extract. Stir to combine.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes until it reaches the soft ball stage. You can check this by dropping a small amount into a cup of cold water. If it forms a soft ball, you're good to go!
- In a large mixing bowl, pour the popcorn and then pour the syrup mixture over it. Stir until all of the popcorn is coated.
- Grease your hands with butter and then start forming the popcorn mixture into balls. You'll want to work quickly before the mixture starts to harden.
- Place the popcorn balls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and let cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
